Serial No. 520537, manufactured mid-1891, chambered in .45-70 Government, with a 32 ½” round barrel. This late-production Model 1888 features a consistent light grey patina across all metal components. Factory markings on the barrel, breechblock, and lock plate remain clear and sharp. The stock is in very good condition, with minimal handling impressions noted and a crisply stamped 1891 cartouche on the left side. The stock also bears an additional rack marking: "65/565. Mechanically, the action is tight and functions properly, retaining the robust reliability typical of Springfield’s final Trapdoor iteration. Equipped with the distinctive integral ramrod bayonet, the Model 1888 represents the last refinement of the Trapdoor series.
