Serial No. 512004, manufactured in 1891, chambered in .45-70 Government, with a 32 ½” round barrel. This rifle exhibits a smooth and even brown/grey patina across all metal components, with strong factory markings clearly visible on the breech and lock plate. The stock is in good condition, showing light, expected handling marks, and retains a sharp 1891 cartouche on the left wrist. Mechanically, the action is tight and functions correctly. The rifle features the distinctive integral ramrod bayonet, unique to the Model 1888—the final evolution of the U.S. trapdoor rifle series that served through the Indian Wars and into the Spanish-American War era. A solid and honest example of a late-production Trapdoor
