Serial No. G8735, manufactured circa 1895–1896 and later arsenal converted, chambered in 7.62 NATO with a 29” round barrel. The bore is very good, showing strong, well-defined rifling. Metal finish has thinned evenly to a grey patina, with the Chilean crest remaining visible on the receiver. The rear of the receiver is marked “7.62/N,” indicating the 1960s conversion to accept the 7.62×51mm NATO cartridge. Serial numbers on the bolt and receiver are matching. The stock shows expected handling impressions consistent with age and service use. Action is smooth and functions correctly. Fewer than 2% of Chilean full-length Mauser rifles were converted to 7.62 NATO, making this a scarce and desirable example of a late-service modernization.
