This is a very interesting Barnett Trade Gun that does not seem to conform to established patterns. Based on the Die stampings on the Lock, we estimate this gun to be made in the 1880s to 1890s. This gun has a lot of the features of  a trade musket, but some features are not what you normally find. This gun has the same type of butt plate, lock style, large trigger guard, ribbed ramrod pipes, but does not have a serpentine lock plate and has a much heavier than normal barrel. This gun is in 60 caliber with a 37” barrel. The metal has a dark brown to almost black patina with scattered light pitting throughout. The lock and barrel are both marked “Barnett/ London” The top jaw of the hammer is missing The wood is very good and has a few minor cracks. Very interesting Barnett Trade Musket!
