Rare Springfield Model 1880 Trapdoor Rifle with Experimental Triangular Bayonet. Rare gun with only 1001 of these made. This gun has a rare experimental triangular captive ramrod bayonet. The military eventually went with a very similar system for the Model 1888 guns with a round bayonet. Very fine condition with excellent original blue. Case colors on the action. Trapdoor has mostly turned to gray. Wood is excellent with a sharp cartouche.
