English large bore cape gun by C. Maybury, 16 St Mary’s Sq. Birmingham. Barrels have been shortened to 19”. Caliber is .500 BPE (Black Powder Express) and 12 gauge. Gun has a 5 leaf express sight and long range ladder sight. Rifle bore is very good and shotgun bore is good plus with very light area of pitting. Stock is good plus with tiny chipping at the edges of the forend. Metal parts are varying patterns of scroll and geometric motifs. Barrels are a non-factory refinish. Note: This is a black powder gun with Birmingham black powder proofs. Not for smokeless powder loads. Action locks up tight and works perfectly. Interesting gun with a degree of charm.
