French Zulu These were model 1842 percussion muskets that were converted to cartridge by Snider conversion method and then bored out to smooth bore. These were used in the Congo to trade to natives for gemstones, ivory, etc. Thus the name Zulu. These probably had nothing to do with the Zulus, but it has become the name collectors place on these African trade guns. This is actually a very nice example as most were beat to pieces by the natives.
