Serial no. 505353. Manufactured in March 1942 by Springfield Armory, chambered in .30-06 Springfield, 24" round barrel marked “SA F6535448 1-55 MD49 P.” Bore is bright and shiny with strong, well-defined rifling noted. The rifle is fitted with a post-war Springfield replacement barrel dated January 1955, reflecting continued U.S. military arsenal service. The operating rod has been cut, and the major components are Springfield Armory marked. It retains its desirable Type III lock bar rear sight. The stock shows expected handling impressions while retaining a visible Department of Defense cartouche and circled "P" proof mark. This is a handsome U.S. arsenal rebuild that combines early WWII production with post-war military updates, representing the long service life and continued refinement of the iconic M1 Garand.
