Serial No. 676461, manufactured May 1942, chambered in .30-06 with a 24” round barrel correctly marked “S-A-5-42”—notably stamped upside-down, as seen on early war examples. Bolt is marked “D28287-12SA/RE58,” with heat lot “C19A/D28291-17.” Operating rod remains uncut and is marked “D35382 3 SA.” Rifle retains a Type 2 lock bar rear sight. Trigger housing is marked “D28290-5-SA” and hammer “C46008-2 SA,” all consistent with mid-1942 Springfield production. Stock shows light handling impressions and bears the correct “S.A./E.Mc.F” cartouche with the Ordnance wheel on the right side. A circle “P” proof is present on the wrist. Action is smooth and functions correctly. A handsome early-war example with properly configured components and great character.
