Serial No. 1935e, manufactured in 1944 by Mauser Werke, Oberndorf (code "byf"), chambered in 8mm Mauser with a 24” round barrel. This rifle is a classic example of a WWII German K98k that was captured and re-arsenaled by the Soviets, evident by the prominent "X" stamp on the receiver. Serial numbers are mismatched, consistent with Russian capture practices. The metal finish displays typical Soviet arsenal refinishing, while the laminated stock remains in very good condition with minor handling marks.
