Serial No. 31265, made late 1944 to early 1945, 7.7x58mm, 25 ½” round barrel. Produced by Tokyo Juki Kogyo as part of the Series 27 block, with only approximately 41,000 rifles manufactured before the war’s end. This example reflects the “last ditch” pattern, marked by significant simplification in materials and construction. Serial numbers are matching, although the firing pin and safety knob are unnumbered, typical of these late production rifles. The Imperial chrysanthemum (mum) has been partially defaced but remains clearly visible. Rear sight is fixed, and the rifle is stocked in the characteristic three-piece wood stock, showing expected handling and use wear. The wooden buttplate is nailed in place with three nails, a hallmark of late-war expediency. Action is smooth and functions correctly.
