WWII Japanese Toyo Kogyo 31st Series Type 99 Bring-Back Rifle with Bayonet 7.7x58mm (L2026-10060)

Serial no. 42472. Manufactured circa late 1942 by Toyo Kogyo, 31st Series, chambered in 7.7x58mm Japanese, 26" round barrel. Bore is dark with scattered oxidation noted, while the rifling remains strong and well defined. This rifle remains in remarkably untouched condition, with serial numbers matching throughout, including the dust cover, and the Imperial chrysanthemum (“mum”) remaining fully intact on the receiver. The stock displays distinctive combat and service wear along the left side, including apparent period damage, giving the rifle the honest appearance of a weapon that saw hard military use rather than later refurbishment. Importantly, the rifle retains its desirable early-production features, including the anti-aircraft rear sight wings, monopod, and matching dust cover frequently lost or removed during wartime service and in the decades following WWII. Accompanying the rifle is a Type 30 straight-quillon bayonet manufactured by Toyoda Jidoshoki Seisakusho (Toyoda Automatic Loom Works) under Nagoya Arsenal supervision, An impressive Japanese WWII bring-back that presents much as it did when it left military service.
