Previously sold
Serial No. D67778, manufactured circa 1917, 8mm Lebel, 18” round barrel later arsenal-dated 1939, reflecting pre-WWII refurbishment. Bore is bright and shiny with crisp, well-defined rifling, indicating excellent internal preservation. Serial numbers are non-matching, consistent with French interwar and WWII-era rebuild practices. Stock exhibits honest handling and service wear, appropriate for a carbine that saw extended use through two major conflicts. Action remains smooth and fully functional. Overall, this is a solid and representative example of a WWI-issue Berthier carbine that was refurbished on the eve of France’s 1940 campaign, adding notable historical interest.
