Winchester Model 1897 Riot Shotgun 12 gauge (L2024-10629)

Serial number E941023. Made in 1942 with a 20-inch barrel that has a bright bore. The barrel on this shotgun has no numbers on it suggesting that it is a mismatched gun & that the barrel's numbers were deliberately obliterated when it was refinished. "CYL" is marked on the barrel & there is a "U.S." with flaming bomb marked on the left side of the receiver above the trigger. While no U.S. cartouches can be found on the buttstock, there are markings on the left side of it that suggest the possibility that the gun may have been issued to the West German government. Gun is equipped with the auto trigger & hammer, so it will slamfire. Overall condition is restored/very good with deep bluing on the metallic parts & some limited handling wear on the Walnut furniture. Comes with sling swivels.
