Winchester 1873 1st Model .44-40 caliber rifle. Made in 1875. Has 24” barrel. Very nice 1st model rifle with clear markings on barrel, tang and serial number. Barrel has bluish brown patina. Frame has smooth brown patina. Wood is very good. Forearm has natural wear from being carried on horseback and is worn to the magazine. Gun is all original. Dust cover is missing and should be raised thumbprint. Bore is dark, but strong. Very fine early gun!
