Serial No. 2305, manufactured 1940 at the Mauser-Werke Oberndorf plant (coded "42"), chambered in 8mm Mauser (7.92x57), 24” round barrel. This Russian-capture Mauser K98k was brought back from Vietnam and bears no import marks, a rare and desirable feature among authentic war trophies. The receiver is marked “42” and stamped with a prominent “X”, denoting Soviet postwar capture. Serial numbers are non-matching, but Waffenamt military acceptance stamps remain visible. The metal finish has worn to an even, dull grey patina, adding to its field-used aesthetic. The stock is dark and worn, showing honest handling and usage marks consistent with Southeast Asian tropical service. This rifle is equipped with a Soviet PPSH sling. Action is smooth and functions correctly. This rifle came from a family group of confirmed Vietnam bring-backs.
