Serial No. S-464311, manufactured circa 1940–1942, .45 ACP, 12” round barrel with compensator. Metal exhibits light surface pitting and a blue-grey finish consistent with tropical service and age. Stock and pistol grip show light handling impressions. This Thompson is accompanied by a first-person provenance letter from the original owner, detailing acquisition while serving as a UH-1 (Huey) crew member during the Tet Offensive. According to the letter, an ARVN soldier presented the firearm to Alan J. Fry, who retained it briefly aboard his helicopter—making this an evocative Vietnam theatre bring-back with direct combat-era association. Action is smooth and functions correctly. Includes three 10-round stick magazines, one 50-round drum (for the 1928 pattern), and a reproduction violin case. A rare and highly collectible wartime Thompson with compelling Vietnam provenance—an evocative piece for militaria and firearms collections.
