Serial number 0778. Made in 1939. 9 mm caliber with a 5” barrel. This gun is in excellent condition with 97% of the original high luster blue. Only 1000 of these guns were made and are technically pre-production guns. These 100 guns were used in the 1939 Wehrmacht test trials that resulted in the acceptance of the P-38. Numerous of these were issued into service and used in the first battles of WWII. Early features include an internal extractor, angled takedown lever, dished slide, lightning cuts on barrel rails and center-cut locking block, as well as wire type locking block retainer. This gun is all matching except for the magazine which is a zero series magazine numbered to another gun. This gun comes in a P-38 holster dated 1940. This exact gun sold at auction in 2022 for over $19,000!
