Serial number 55801. Made in 1856. 36 caliber with a 7.5” barrel. This is a martial Colt 1851 Navy with Iron back strap and trigger guard. This is a nice sharp gun with an even brown patina throughout. There is a small “U.S.” underneath the Colt’s Patent Marking and a good crisp cartouche on the left-hand side grip. These guns without US Navy markings are called Army- Navies by collectors as they were issued to the US Army instead of Navy. Good cylinder scene remains. The cylinder has been made to match the rest of the gun.
