Serial No. ZH02612, manufactured in 1940 at Tula Arsenal, 7.62x54R, 20½” round import-marked barrel. Serial numbers are non-matching. These rifles were arsenal-converted post-war by shortening the original M1891 rifles to a carbine length resembling the M38. Finish and stock are in very good condition, with light handling marks and impressions noted. Fitted with a PU scope, optics are clear and bright. Action is smooth and functions correctly. The origin of these conversions is debated, with some attributed to Bulgarian arsenals and others to Soviet refurbishment programs. A distinctive and uncommon variation for the Mosin-Nagant collector.
