Serial no. 820796. Manufactured in July 1918 by Eddystone Rifle Plant, chambered in .30-06 Springfield,26" round barrel marked “E/Flaming Bomb/6-18.” The bore is bright and shiny with strong, well-defined rifling noted throughout. This rifle was refurbished for WWII service as indicated by the “OGEK” cartouche on the stock, reflecting arsenal inspection and reissue. The Model 1917 served as the primary U.S. service rifle during WWI and continued to see secondary use into WWII following refurbishment. The stock shows light handling impressions consistent with service use. Overall the rifle presents very well. The action is smooth, mechanically sound, and functions correctly.
