Serial No. 316368, manufactured in 1886, .45-70 Government, 32½” round barrel. Barrel has developed a smooth brown patina, while the breech and tang show faint traces of case coloring. Lock plate retains a majority of its original blue finish, fading into a light grey patina. Stock is in very good condition, showing minimal handling marks. Right side is stamped “47/351,” with a handsome 1891-dated cartouche visible on the left wrist. Action is tight and functions correctly. A fine and well-preserved example of the Model 1884 Trapdoor rifle, notable for its integrated ramrod bayonet design.
