Serial No. 334358, made circa 1886, .45-70, 24” round barrel. Bore is bright and shiny with strong rifling visible. One of only 1000 trial rifles developed for the cavalry during the Indian wars. Barrel has an even brown patina with traces of case coloring visible on the breech. Buffington rear sight has the correct “XC” stamp visible. Stock is very good with a light coat of linseed oil applied. Mechanics function correctly.
