Serial No. 196678, manufactured in 1883, .45-70 Government, 32½” round barrel. Metal has developed a smooth brown patina, while the lock plate retains approximately 85% of its original blue finish. Stock is in very good condition, showing light handling marks consistent with service use. A clear circle “P” cartouche is stamped to the rear of the trigger guard. Action is tight and functions correctly. A well-preserved example of the classic Springfield Model 1873 Trapdoor, combining attractive original finish on the lock plate with solid overall condition.
