U.S. Springfield Model 1873 Trapdoor Rifle .45-70 Government (57407)
Price: $995.00
Item Number: 57407
Houston Location.
In stock
Serial No. 78068, manufactured circa 1878, .45-70 Government, 32½” round barrel. Metal has turned to a smooth brown patina. Rifle has been upgraded with the Buffington rear sight, as seen on later Trapdoor models. Stock is in good condition, bearing two visible cartouches—one dated 1891 and another appearing to be a Bannerman cartouche. Rear of the stock is stamped “GA.” Action is tight and functions correctly. A solid and historically interesting example of the Springfield Model 1873 Trapdoor rifle.
