Beautiful 1860 Cavalry Officers saber by Ames with a 34 1/2” slight curved blade. Fuller measures 27 ½”, Ricasso appears to be unmarked, blade is etched with floral design, one side of blade has panoply of arms with floral with the other side is etched with “U.S.”. Blade has scattered discoloration noted, etching remains strong. Two of the branches on the hilt have an engraved floral design. Quillon has a wings spread eagle. Shark skin grip is excellent with brass wire intact.  Scabbard remains bright with the top mount engraved with “AMES Mfg. Co./Chicopee/MASS”. Drag shows nicks and dings. Consignment
