Transitional Spandau Gew. 98 Bolt Action Rifle – 8mm Mauser (04916) AUSTX

Serial No. 9964, originally manufactured in 1913 by Spandau Arsenal and repurposed in 1935, 8mm Mauser, 29½” round barrel. Barrel is marked on the right side beneath the rear sight “S/42G”, indicating later refurbishment during the early Mauser K98k transitional program. Rifle retains its original Spandau receiver markings, with the rear sight updated to the K98k pattern. Serial numbers are matching except for the bolt. Metal finish remains very good, showing a smooth patina, and the stock displays light handling wear consistent with arsenal use. Action is smooth and functions correctly. A fine example of a transitional Gew. 98, bridging Imperial German production and early rearmament efforts under the Third Reich.
