Serial No. 9982n, arsenal-upgraded in the 1930s, chambered in 8x56R, with a 20” round barrel
This is an Austrian Steyr M95 straight-pull bolt-action carbine, originally produced during the Austro-Hungarian era and later arsenal-converted during the 1930s to accommodate the more powerful 8x56R spitzer cartridge (replacing the original 8x50R round). The carbine retains matching serial numbers, though the bolt’s serial number has been arsenal-renumbered via electric pencil, The right side of the barrel is import marked. The stock exhibits typical handling and usage impressions, consistent with military field service and age. Mechanically, the rifle is in good working condition—the action is smooth and functions correctly.
