NSN. Made Circa 1840. 55 caliber with a 9.5” barrel. Barrel has a smooth light gray to brown patina. Wood is very good as refinished. The breech plug and upper tang is nicely engraved as well as the lock. The lock is marked “RICH. HOLLIS & SONS” and is nicely engraved. The trigger guard has silver hall marks. The top of the barrel is marked “VAN WIRT SON & CO LONDON” The hammer has a lock safety. This gun also has a set trigger. Van Wirt Son and Company purchased guns and exported them to the United States. This is a very nice gun with some deluxe features.
