Shanxi “Five-Six” Infantry Rifle – Taiyuan Arsenal Type 38 Copy 6.5x50mm (L2026-09030)

Serial no. 70552. Manufactured circa the 1920s–1930s at Taiyuan Arsenal in Shanxi Province during China’s Warlord Era, chambered in 6.5x50mm Japanese, 31" round barrel. Bore is dark with oxidation present and faint rifling remaining visible. Serial numbers are non-matching, and the metal has aged to an even grey patina. The stock remains in good condition for its age, displaying expected handling impressions and service wear. The Shanxi “Five-Six” Infantry Rifle was a Chinese-produced adaptation of the Japanese Type 38 and represents the diverse domestic arms production undertaken by regional arsenals during the turbulent Warlord period. The action is tight when closing and will require inspection by a qualified gunsmith. This rifle is being offered as a collectible firearm and is not considered safe to fire in its present condition.
