NSN, circa 1802-1803, .69 caliber, 43” long smooth bore barrel. Barrel is a brown patina, left side of the barrel is marked with a deep “M” (Joseph Morgan-per George Moller). Lock plate is stamped with “Eagle/ New Haven.” Rear of the lock plate is marked with a curved “U. STATES” Lock also has faceted brass pan with fence. Stock is very good with scattered nicks, dings and scratches. A section of forstock between the muzzle band and center band have been replaced.  Action holds at half and full cock. In “American Military Shoulder Arms: Volume II by George Moller pages 159-160; Moller states in an example “One of the few surviving examples of this musket” Whitney's 3rd and 4th deliveries of 500 muskets occurred on September 9, 1802 and March 27, 1803 and are noted in government records as having brass pans.
