Serial No. 206332, made in 1899, .30-40 krag, 22 ¾” round barrel. Bore is bright with strong rifling. Carbine has a mixture of blue/brown finish. Receiver is marked “U.S./MODEL 1898-SPRINGFIELD ARMORY-206332”. Carbine was converted at Springfield Armory between 1906-1916. Stock ius good with a JSA cartouche over 1902. Model 1905 Front has been added, there is no evidence that these sights were installed at government arsenals. W. stokes Kirk in Philadelphia list such configurations in sales catalogs. Action is smooth and functions correctly.
