Rock Island Armory SA1 semi-auto M60 7.62×51mm (L2026-01805)

Serial number 7269203. Made in 1986 with a 22-inch USGI M60E3 barrel that has a bright bore with strong visible rifling. The Rock Island Armory/Springfield Armory, Inc. SA1 M60 25 semi-automatic rifle in 7.62×51mm was a limited-production semi-automatic version of the classic M60 belt-fed machine gun. Prior to the 1986 Hughes Amendment (aka the Firearms Owners' Protection Act - or FOPA), RIA was producing registered full auto M60s. Once the Hughes Amendment went into effect, Springfield Armory, Inc. created the semi-automatic SA1 as a way to make use of the leftover machine gun parts that could no longer be used to assemble civilian full auto examples of the M60. The new design converted the M60 to a closed bolt semi-automatic rifle, but it still feeds from the same M13 NATO metallic disintegrating links. This particular example is in the M60E3 configuration with a vertical foregrip handguard & it weighs in at a hefty 23-pounds. Comes with padded webbed nylon assault sling.
