Rare WWII Tokyo Juki Kogyo “Rope Hole” Last-Ditch Type 99 with Rope Sling & Bayonet 7.7x58mm (L2026-10752)

NSN. Manufactured in 1945 by Tokyo Juki Kogyo, chambered in 7.7x58mm Japanese, 26" round barrel. Bore is good with frosting and oxidation noted, while the rifling remains strong and well defined. The Imperial chrysanthemum (“mum”) has been removed. The rifle remains in overall very good condition, with its characteristic three-piece wooden stock showing only minimal handling impressions. The wooden buttplate is secured by three nails. Of particular interest, the rifle retains its rope sling attached through the simplified rope-hole mounting points, completing the distinctive late-war configuration and adding considerably to its overall presentation. Included is a Type 30 straight-quillon, square-backed bayonet manufactured by Toyoda Jidoshoki Seisakusho (Toyoda Automatic Loom Works) under Nagoya Arsenal supervision. The bayonet is accompanied by its wooden scabbard and leather frog, both remaining in very good condition. The Tokyo Juki Kogyo “Rope Hole” Type 99 is one of the more distinctive Last-Ditch Arisaka variations, produced during the desperate final stages of WWII as Japan prepared for the defense of the Home Islands. It’s extremely simplified construction, wooden buttplate, rope-hole sling arrangement, and other late-war features make it an immediately recognizable example of Japan’s final wartime production. Complete with its attached rope sling, Type 30 bayonet, wooden scabbard, and leather frog, this is a particularly attractive and well-presented example of a scarce late-war Japanese military rifle. Action is smooth, mechanically sound, and functions correctly.
