NSN. Made circa 1789. 72 caliber with a 12” barrel. Nice sharp gun. The barrel is half octagon half round and marked “Regim. To DE CABALLa DE Santiago” which translates to Regiment of Horses of Santiago which shortened would be the Santiago Cavalry Unit. This unit was involved in numerous battles and this gun was in service to approximately 1812. There were 12 different Cavalry units in total. They were del Rey', 'de la Reina', 'del Principe', 'del Ynfante', 'de Borbon', 'De Farnesio', 'de Alcantara', 'de España', 'del Algarbe', 'de Calatrava', 'de Santiago' and 'de Montesa', and the two light regiments were 'de la Costa de Granada' and 'de Voluntarios de España'. Very neat, very Spanish military gun!
