Rare Smith & Wesson Schofield Revolver (AH4650)
Price: $7,450.00
Item Number: AH4650
Previously sold
Rare Smith & Wesson Schofield Revolver marked “Wells Fargo & Co’s Ex”. This rare example is also marked “Sonora”. These Schofields were surplused after government use and sold to New York dealers such as Schuyler Hartley and Graham. They were shortened to 5” barrel length and sold to Wells Fargo with nickel plating for Wells Fargo messengers protection. The action works perfectly. The gun has a mellow pair of old ivory grips. The nickel on the cylinder and sides of the barrel is from holster wear and the metal shows a dark smooth patina. The cylinder likewise shows matching holster wear. We have owned many Wells Fargo Schofields but this one is certainly the most colorful and interesting of them all! This revolver has seen some real action. A lanyard ring has been added, most certainly by the owner. This is a very Old West Wells Fargo revolver, with western use with the “Sonora” mark and WF & Co. property mark 8570. Untouched original condition and should remain that way.
