A rare and imposing Japanese hōnōtō (shrine dedication sword), measuring 39.5 inches in cutting length with a width of 1.625 inches. Unlike combat swords, this oversized ōdachi-style blade was produced for ceremonial and religious purposes. One side bears the inscription 芳武奉献 (“Respectfully Dedicated to Military Glory”), while the other reads 倉八神社奉納 (“Respectfully Dedicated to Kurahachi Shrine”), each flanked by chrysanthemum crests of Imperial association.    Such swords were typically offered at Shinto shrines as acts of devotion or patriotic dedication, particularly during the late Meiji through Shōwa periods. The sheer size, bold inscriptions, and imperial symbolism make this a highly unusual and significant example of a shrine dedication blade, suitable as a centerpiece in a collection of Japanese militaria or religious artifacts.
