This Peruvian M1909 Mauser is a licensed copy of the German Gewehr 98, produced by Mauser Oberndorf specifically for the Peruvian military. The receiver is crisply marked "Republica del Peru" over the Peruvian crest, followed by "Mauser Original", a hallmark of its early contract origin. All visible serial numbers are matching, with light surface oxidation noted on the receiver. The blued finish has aged gracefully, showing an even tone. The hardwood stock shows expected light handling impressions but remains structurally sound and well-preserved. The action is smooth and functions correctly. This is a fine representative of South American Mauser exports of early 20th-century military arms.
