Serial No. 16398, manufactured circa 1910–1914, 7.65x53mm, 28.5” round barrel. This Peruvian M1909 Mauser is a licensed copy of the German Gewehr 98, produced by Mauser Oberndorf specifically for the Peruvian military. The receiver is crisply marked "Republica del Peru" over the Peruvian crest, followed by "Mauser Original", a hallmark of its early contract origin. Serial numbers are matching except for the bolt. The blued finish is very good with light thinning noted. The hardwood stock shows expected light handling impressions but remains structurally sound and well-preserved with a handsome Mauser cartouche visible. The action is smooth and functions correctly. This is a fine representative of South American Mauser exports of early 20th-century military arms.
