Mauser 1896 Broomhandle. .30 Mauser, 5 ½” barrel with a bright excellent bore. The metal surfaces of this handsome pre-war pistol retain about 95% original blue showing some light silvering along the bottom of the barrel, the floorplate toned to a mild gray patina and some other light handling marks. The bolt remains bright, the hammer and fire control group show mild gray case-hardening, the small parts retain most of their brilliant fire blue with some silvering along the high edges and the trigger retains strong straw color. All markings remain crisp and clear and the pistol is stamped with the appropriate commercial proofs. The grooved walnut grips are unnumbered and remain in very good plus condition showing a small ding at the base of the right panel, worn finish and some other light handling marks. The lanyard ring is not present, the floorplate is mismatched numbered “4691” and the remaining serialized parts are matching. The action seems to function well mechanically. Included is the original wooden shoulder stock holster.
