NSN, circa 1840s-1850s, .70 caliber, 4” smooth bore octagonal barrel. Barrel is marked “MANTON-LONDON”, Scroll work engraving is visible on frame, trigger guard, fish hammers and silver butt cap. Metal is a shiny mottled grey patina. Checkered grip has light handling wear noted, escutcheon is unmarked. Action holds at half and full cock. The Manton name was one of the most reputable names during many years of manufacture.
