No serial number listed. Manufactured circa late 1944–1945, with a 27.5" blade. The blade has aged to a light grey patina, with the blade and saya bearing matching serial numbers. The black-painted iron tsuba shows light oxidation, while the fuchi is unmarked. The late-war wooden checkered grip retains its preservative coating and is secured by two machine screws with winged washers and slotted nuts, characteristic of the simplified construction encountered on last-ditch Type 95 swords. The steel scabbard retains black paint and is fitted with a single suspension ring and conventional drag. Of particular interest is the accompanying original bring-back slip documenting the sword's return to the United States. The paperwork identifies PFC Richard D. Sullivan and records authorization to mail home “1 Jap Saber.”
