SN: 628 made circa 1880’s – 1890’s in Lancaster Pennsylvania. This is NOT Lancaster of the UK but rather a little-known company out of rural Pennsylvania who made a name for themselves when they introduced the Infallible Single Trigger. The patented design became an option offered by many gunmakers including Ithaca, Parker, Lefever and several European gunmakers. This is a fine example of the high quality work Lancaster Arms produced some time before their famous patent was issued, a 10 gauge side by side with 30” Damascus steel barrels with a single brass bead sight, 2 7/8” chambers choked IC/Mod. Side lock with rebounding hammers and sprung firing pins. A unique design that lacks a traditional top lever but is broken open by pulling the 3rd trigger in front of the trigger guard. 14 ¼” LOP to the original checkered horn butt plate with a drop of 1 7/8” to 2 ¾”. The stock features a horn grip cap and a blank gold shield behind the top tang. Bores are in very good condition, barrels have strong Damascus pattern clearly visible with only a couple very small dents and some light handling marks. Action is very nicely engraved with strong case colors and the wood is in very good condition for its age with the only heavy wear being some gouges on the left side of the stock near the toe. Total weight is 8 lbs 11oz. These guns are extremely rare and it has been several years since one has been offered for sale.
