Japanese Type 97 sniper rifle 6.5×50mm (L2025-08008)

Serial number 5105. Made by Kokura Arsenal in 1938 with a 31.4-inch barrel that has a bright bore with strong visible rifling. This is one of the 8,000 Type 97 sniper rifles made by Kokura between 1937 & 1939. It includes the turned down bolt handle & the 2.5 X 10° telescopic sight. Condition is very good overall with thinning original factory finish across the metallic parts & Japanese Beech hardwood furniture that is completely in tact while also exhibiting light handling wear for a military service rifle. While the exterior of the scope reveals some scratches, the reticle is clear & the rubber eye piece has only a few small cracks in it. No monopod. The Chrysanthemum is struck/defaced. Comes with non-matching dust cover & 29.5-inch cleaning rod.
