Serial No. 74843, manufactured circa the late 1800s, chambered in 11mm with a 32¼" round barrel. The bore shows frosting and oxidation in the grooves, with rifling remaining visible. Factory markings are sharp and crisp, and serial numbers are matching. Metal surfaces have thinned to a uniform brown patina, giving the rifle an honest, well-aged appearance. The stock shows expected handling impressions from service use, yet remains solid and well preserved overall. Action is smooth and functions correctly. The Murata Type 13 represents Japan’s first domestically designed and manufactured military rifle and saw active service during the First Sino-Japanese War (1894–1895) and the Russo-Japanese War (1904–1905), making this an important and historically significant early Japanese service arm.
