An excellent example of a Japanese Imperial Navy Officer’s Model 1883 parade/dress saber, produced by Nakano Shoten. The chrome-plated blade remains approximately 95% intact, with minor chipping in the plating. The artificial Hamon is clearly visible, and the blade retains a bright finish. The locking tab is intact and functions properly, securing the saber firmly in the scabbard. The sharkskin-covered scabbard shows moderate wear consistent with age, with some areas of chipping and peeling. Included with the saber are the original officer’s knot and carrying bag, both of which exhibit wear and light fraying. Overall, a well-preserved and complete example of a seldom-seen naval officer’s dress piece.
