Serial no. 212. Manufactured circa the early 1900s, chambered in 6.5x50mm Japanese, 19" round barrel. Bore is dark with oxidation noted in the grooves, while visible rifling remains. Serial numbers are non-matching, and the Imperial chrysanthemum has been ground from the receiver. The metal has aged to an even brown patina, while the stock displays expected handling and military service wear. The defaced mum is consistent with many Japanese rifles surrendered at the conclusion of WWII, adding an interesting element to this carbine’s history. The Type 44 was designed for cavalry service and is distinguished by its integral folding bayonet. Action functions correctly.
