Imperial German Gew. 88/05 Bolt Action Rifle by Erfurt – 8mm (52083)

Serial No. 1364, manufactured in 1891 at the Erfurt Arsenal, chambered in 8mm and fitted with a 30” round barrel. The bore is bright and shiny with strong, well-defined rifling. This rifle remains in overall very good condition, with factory markings sharp and clearly legible throughout. The barrel band is unit marked, adding to its military character. The bolt is non-matching and bears the Ottoman Empire crescent moon and star, indicating later Turkish service. The stock is very good, showing only light handling impressions consistent with age and service. As an 88/05 conversion, it is distinguished by the riveted or pinned steel plate added to the rear bridge of the receiver. The action is smooth and functions correctly, making this a strong and representative example of the Gew. 88/05 rifle.
