G&H serial # 2171 built in 1955 in Manhattan NY on a Springfield 1903 action with a 21” barrel and a Mannlicher style stock. This rifle features the classic Griffin & Howe detachable side mount with a Lyman Alaskan 2 ½ power scope with post reticle. Designed to allow the option of a scope or iron sights it is also fitted with a Lyman 48 peep sight that can be used when the scope is removed. The barrel is fitted with a barrel band sling swivel and a banded ramp front sight. The metal is in very good condition with normal wear and a small blemish on the back of the scope mount. The hand-made stock is in very good condition with minimal handling marks and has a classic G&H style cheek piece with a Winchester model 70 style checkered butt plate, steel grip cap with engraved screw and an ebony forend tip. A unique configuration as most G&H rifles in 30-06 had 24” barrels and are seldom seen with Mannlicher style stocks.
