Serial no. A9125. Manufactured in 1896 at Oviedo Arsenal, chambered in 7x57mm Mauser, 29" round barrel. Bore is dark with visible rifling remaining. Serial numbers are matching, while the cleaning rod has been removed. Metal has aged to an attractive brown patina with traces of original blue remaining in protected areas. Stock displays expected handling and military service wear with a handsome 1896-dated cartouche remaining on the right side of the buttstock above the matching serial number. As an early Oviedo-produced Model 1893 dating directly to the period of the Spanish-American War, this rifle is an interesting possible bring-back,. Action is smooth and functions correctly.
